A lot of us have something we want to change about ourselves. Sometimes it's a bad habit we wish to lose. Other times we're looking to accumulate some good habits or take up a particular discipline. Regard- less of the change involved, I don't doubt anyone would disagree with the statement that it takes effort.
In class this morning, we were discussing that there are two kinds of effort. There's the first kind, where you try and try and you may make progress, but it's labour intensive. The other kind is merely attention - the more attentive you are, the greater your chances of progress.
Both can be successful. But the labour intensive effort will tire you out. It's hard work, and it takes the fun out of everything. And there is a greater chance of success if you're having fun. Keeping attention is more efficient. It doesn't require a lot of energy, just regular checks. Am I in alignment with the change I want to create? If not, let's make a small adjustment. Otherwise, pat self on back and continue until the next check. Easy.
So, may you all reach your aims through easy effort (attention).
