Make Every Home Into Heaven?

One of the main points in this morning's class was that we should aim to make every home into Heaven.  Right now I'm sitting at the laptop in a spacious office with some new meditation music wafting up the stairs.  I feel calm and serene.  Perhaps it's a bit like heaven.  If only it were like this all the time!

I really like this point, but if I were just to say to the fellow outside walking his dog that we should be aiming to make every home into Heaven, I'm sure he would be pleasant, but he would be looking to move on very quickly.  Cambridge is full of nutters and I would soon be considered high up on the list.

I started to think about how to blog on this topic - how to make it meaningful to others.  If you consider how some view Heaven, it might be pearly gates, streets of gold, and bejeweled palaces.  Others might see a place full of judges and hypocrites.  The first seems a bit like fairyland, the second doesn't seem appealing at all!  It's not very good PR for Heaven.

Heaven should be seen as a refuge, a place of rest, peaceful and serene - no judgments, no anger, no harsh words.  Can you imagine coming home after work to a place like this?  Wouldn't that be nice?  I should think we'd have less road rage if every home was made into this sort of Heaven.

Is it possible?  I now believe that anything is possible.  If we're determined and we constantly make effort to make even just small changes, eventually we'll reach the goal in mind.  My first change is to play that CD on infinite loop - it's just heavenly!
